Donald T. Sterling should be applauded for waking the American consciousness. It is a fact that African Americans are the largest consumer group in America, but what is never mentioned is the fact that African Americans are also the largest producer group. With the combination of the resources on the African continent, Black people are the world’s largest resource.
As in Africa, African Americans do not have control of their destiny. So what makes Mark Cuban the owner of the Dallas Mavericks any different from Donald T. Sterling or the treatment Micheal Jordan received at the hands of Abe Pollin and Jerry Reinsdorf. African Americans are still making billions for characters who see them lesser than dogs. | Ogbeni Ayotunde
Most African Americans will tell you the NAACP is a shadow organization that has absolutely nothing to do with the advancement of black people. They were days away from handing Donald Sterling an award, this to a guy who is famous for having a “NO BLACKS” policy at his rental properties.
It is obvious that Donald Sterling paid off some clowns at the NAACP. This same clowns for the right dollar will hand the Imperial Kludd of the local Klan chapter an award. I believe Rev. Al Sharpton who is also scheduled to receive an award from the NAACP turn it down with extreme prejudice.
Like it or not the Lakers are in a rebuilding situation. Kobe Bryant is 35 years old and a proven selfish player through his career. Nash, Gasol, MWP, Blake all in the twilight of their careers.
The Lakers have to trade Kobe to begin the process of getting back to championship contention. And no LeBron James will not sign with the Lakers. LeBron James promised the Miami fans multiple championships, he has 2 so far for them.
I have been a Laker fan since the days of Magic Johnson and this year I have watched the Lakers do what an elite basketball club like the Los Angeles Lakers should never do. A Jerry West managed Laker club will never bring themselves to the shameless and unnecessary begging of Dwight Howard.
Dwight Howard should know by now he will never win a ring with the “Mamba” and will be a damn fool not to sign with the Golden State Warriors.
Magic Johnson and Micheal Wilbon ESPN / NBA analysts pointed out how LeBron James current and 4 time MVP is seen less in television commercials than Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant or even his Miami Heat teammate Dwayne Wade. This besides the fact that LeBron James has major sponsors, endorsements and a lucrative contract with Miami Heat.
In this same commentary Magic and Wilbon pointed out how after LeBron won a ring last season, he played in the Summer Olympics, went to Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon’s camp in Houston to work on his game. A committed father and humanitarian.
The point Magic and the rest of the ESPN / NBA analysts were trying to make is that LeBron should be making more money and be seen more on television, typical. These talking heads forgot that when LeBron promised to win multiple rings when he signed with the Miami Heat they laughed at time. Obliviously LeBron did not forget.
So in this era of reality television, big bling, big money and big talk it is refreshing to see a man who’s word is bond.
