No doubt, it is ground to a fine powder and then snorted. You get the type of head rush like eating wasabi

my dear old maternal grandmother uses to put a pinch below her right nostril, snort, cough, and repeat the act twice! yeah, people (in the states at any rate older/mature black people) did it all the time; that and smoked camel cigarettes without filters. sweet
