It is street slang in Yoruba land to tell someone off with “lo je efo”. It is a sign of good living and wealth to eat meals rich in all sorts of meats. The poor man on the other hand has no choice but to eat meals rich in vegetables which he most likely cultivated, picked in the bush or bought cheap in the market. The Yoruba’s have a proverb that when a rich man dies it is the poor man that buries him.
