1. No. Photographers have been taking pictures of themselves since the 1800s.

   • Yes you are right in terms of photographers taking pictures of themselves. My dad was taking selfies using timers and doing exactly what am doing today in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s in Nigeria with 3mm, 8mm and analog technology. Innovation is really about besting the wheel.

     Social media is an enhanced form of party line using digital technology. I do believe adapting front and back cameras to a cellphone to record instant images is inventive and Apple takes the credit for that.

     Today Parker of Napster, Facebook and Spotify is using his hacking background to find a cure for cancer through immune therapy.

     • I see all these selfies a little differently. To me, and many of my artist friends they are simply a sign of the times in which we live. Very narcissistic. Certainly, Apple was the first to incorporate a camera into a tool in which you could take the picture and upload to somewhere immediately. But, how many pictures do we need to see of people whom we don’t know, of cute cats and food they were just about to eat? I generally steer clear of all of it. I use Instagram, but I post from my files and never from my phone, which is the software was intended. Most of my photo buddies do that too. 🙂
