“You” as in the Nigerian people are taking alot of shit from South Africa and so you should. And you should give it right back too. It is of note that you share a regard with me for the process of change there. I feel that as a white guy I deserve to live in a foreign part of the world, namely the UK, as a branch of the swinging left who hates the racism of the world too. I hate the word supreme but it is true that it is. A (supreme) cockfight about who and what. It is a measure of history, our and your, that it is not for the rule to be afoot but the where, yes, it is the where and not the why that is of import. The where it took place is of King and Queen and not of the footsoldier. I await you reponse with baited breath.
Peace Bruce, Nigerians are especially taking a lot of shit from South Africa I believe for a couple of reasons. Nigerians are proud people by nature/culture which often rubs some the wrong way. We also have that takeover mentality as am sure Nigerians hold more economic leverage in South Africa than black South Africans.
Then we have to live with the stench of corrupt governments which has been effectively used by corporate media and governments to smear Nigerians. No doubt black South Africans rightly see another Apartheid this time by other black people as African Americans give their own accounts of xenophobia experienced in South Africa.
Remember that wave of middle-class African Americans moving to South Africa in the mid 90’s with plenty of dollars, buying choice real estate and setting up businesses. See the documentary “Blacks without Borders” produced by Stafford U Bailey about xenophobia in South Africa, I actually spoke to him in California about his experience some years back when I first screened his documentary. Naturally black South Africans see themselves left out again.
A childhood friend moved to South Africa in the mid 90’s from America, when I visited him in Joburg I couldn’t help but notice he lived like a shadow Nigerian not wanting South Africans to know he is Nigerian, I couldn’t understand it then.
You see Bruce you have the right ideology of a world without borders but first we have to erase the color lines.
