In Nigeria it is common practice to have the security guard and his family live on the property while under construction. This sometimes takes several years from when the land is purchased to the slow process of building the home. Abuja the capital of Nigeria has very pricy real estate and the price of land is way out of the reach of the lady.
When someone buys land in Nigeria the first thing they do is build a great big fence and a guard house, the pay is usually low for the guard who would usually farm the land for sometimes years before the actual home construction begins and from his guard house he or is wife sells sundries like cigarettes, kola nuts etc, the wife might also setup a food place like you see in the image to supplement their income.
