Our source on the scene in Bwari, John Amos, reports that the Bwari Market fire was set to protest the new king imposed on them. They claim he is not Gbagyi but an Hausa man. Bwari is a Gbagyi enclave.
The Gbagyi people are know for their very peaceful ways.
Contrary to a news report filed on December 25, 2017 by Akin Oyewobi of Premium Times
“Calm has returned to Bwari, the capital of Bwari Area Council in Abuja, after violence engulfed the area on Christmas day.
The council also hosts the Nigerian Law School and the office of the examination body, JAMB.
The violence, which residents said was an ethnic conflict, led to the burning of the main market in the town.
