Hello Ogbeni,

thank you for posting my comment on your Facebook page and for sharing a couple of the comments with me – I appreciate that. As a materialist, I obviously don’t subscribe to mysticism. I subscribe to the truth – to saying of what is that it is. The origin of materialist dialectics is mystical (particularly Neoplatonic) philosophy which Marx stood right way up – on its material feet.

I firmly believe that materialist dialectics are the epistemological way forward but that they need to be further developed (just as Marx and Engels developed materialism from mechanical to dialectical). To do so, first their origins need to be acknowledged and understood and then the whole course of their development needs to be reviewed – in order to address the shortcomings of Marx’s epistemology.

The Igbo Tradition of Indentured Servitude

Most tribes have uniquely beautiful cultures that naturally evolve over time. The Igbo culture of indentured servitude has evolved into a tradition. The tradition of bringing relatives from the village to apprentice in their store in the city. They would often use them as house help for years without compensation under the pretext of training them in the trade of one day owning their own store.

It is the 40 acres and a mule agreement.

They keep these school age children in servitude while they send their children to private schools. The women would do things like bring their younger sisters from the village to “serve” them in their matrimonial homes, making them easy target practice for their husband’s libido. – @OgbeniAyotunde
