Donald Trump a self proclaimed genius with The Midas Touch. A persona he defends by touting his alleged wealth, business accomplishments and his reality television show. Out peddling this persona are his goombahs, Chris Christie and Rudy Giuliani. They tout him as a genius and smart businessman for his brilliance at loosing a billion dollars, sticking the American people with the bill and tax evasion.

To be a great confidence man you learn from the master. Trump was fortunate enough to study and mirror the master, Leona Helmsley, a tyrannical real estate and later hotel magnate. Leona was an innovator and trail blazer who shattered the glass ceiling of the male dominated New York real estate and hotel business in the mid 1960s.

Leona was renowned for her underhanded business practices including creating phony invoices which billed her company for work done on her Connecticut mansion, allegations of non payment by a group of contractors she hired to build her mansion, often citing shoddy workmanship as her reason for non payment, and tax evasion.

Leona was crowned the “Queen of Mean” for the cruel and abusive way she treated her employees. “Lawyer Alan Dershowitz said he once had breakfast with Leona at one of the Helmsley hotels and the waiter brought him a cup of tea with a tiny bit of water spilled on the saucer. Dershowitz says Leona grabbed the cup from him and smashed it on the floor, then demanded that the waiter get down on his hands and knees and beg for his job.” – 6 Tyrannical Bosses Far Worse Than Yours

“Helmsley had a barbecue pit constructed for her home. The work was performed by Eugene Brennan, a personal friend of Jeremiah McCarthy, the chief engineer of Helmsley-Spear. When the final bill came to $13,000, she refused to pay, citing shoddy workmanship. When McCarthy pleaded with her to honor the bill, citing the favor done on his behalf and informing her that Brennan had six children to support, Helmsley replied, “Why didn’t he keep his pants on? Then he wouldn’t need the money.” – Hammer (1990), p.243.

In 1988, then U.S. Attorney Rudy Giuliani indicted Leona Helmsley on several tax related charges and extortion. Leona was tried in the summer of 1989 and convicted on August 30, 1989. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison for one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, three counts of filing false personal tax returns, three counts of tax evasion, sixteen counts of assisting in the filing of false corporate and partnership tax returns, and ten counts of mail fraud. On appeal Leona’s lawyer Dershowitz was able reduce her sentence, she would serve 19 months in Federal Prison.

Twenty eight years ago U.S. Attorney Rudy Giuliani called Leona Helmsley a greedy criminal for working the tax system. He would go on to prosecute and imprison her. Today Rudy Giuliani calls Donald Trump a genius for the same crime of tax evasion.

Will Trump ever be charged for tax evasion? I believe there is a very good chance he will not be because he is a white male unlike Leona who was a Jewish female. Trump also has the advantage of his two goombahs in former Federal Prosecutors Rudy Giuliani and Chris Christie advising him on how to game the system. Trump only proves the system is still very sexist and racist.

I believe Hillary was right and politically correct when she called Trump supporters a “basket of deplorables” a basket that includes Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Rudy Giuliani, Steve Bannon, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, David Duke, the KKK. One rotten apple spoils the whole basket.

Trump tells his supporters to trust him to fix the rigged system that made him a billionaire the same way he was teaching them at Trump University. It is like a slave believing his master is going to set him free out of the kindness of his heart. @OgbeniAyotunde
