A couple of months ago on NPR the CEO of Toyota admitted the biggest mistake his company ever made was trying to be the biggest automaker in the world.  For that the quality of their products and reputation suffered leading to millions of recalls, accidents and government fines.

Just 2 weeks ago the CEO of Volkswagen was on NPR bragging about how Volkswagen is the number one automaker in the world.  Yesterday the EPA announced that it caught Volkswagen in the biggest fraud ever perpetrated by an automaker on consumers.

Volkswagen installed software in about 11 million of it’s diesel engine cars that skews the emissions and fuel consumption report. The software shuts off the emissions control system while the car is in motion and activates it when the car is undergoing an emissions test. Volkswagen then turns around and sells millions of diesel engine cars based on their “most efficient” rating in the market. Today Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn claims he is shocked at the revelation and pretends to fall on his sword by resigning. – @OgbeniAyotunde
