Why are they parking on the roundabout? Also, are those solar panels on top of the street lights?

There is limited land on the island, you find cars parked on sidewalks on Awolowo road (a street with high end shops, banks, restaurants and such on the island). Yes those are solar panels on top of the street lights, am sure you are aware of electricity problem in Nigeria.

I suppose most of Africa has energy problems. We also had until recently but our government didn’t spend on solar energy 😦 They have started now a pilot program in a small city but I guess it was a PR stunt, no real interest behind the tech.

Ghana is the beacon in West Africa with if am correct over 20yrs of uninterrupted power supply. We have abundance of sunshine in Africa but the big oil companies and the criminal cartels and politicians have no interest in alternative clean energy.

Here is a link to a shot video I shot about electricity problems in Nigeria and you will quickly understand the criminal elements behind keeping things the way they are. There is the generator, diesel, petrol industries built around it. There is no investment in building a sustainable and affordable solar sector, even solar power plants. https://jujufilms.tv/2013/07/29/the-curse-of-the-petrol/

Is it unusual to have live stock in the street there? It makes for a great photo op!
