Rest assured the Republicans are busy working on a way to tag President Barrack Obama for the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight 17.

Not this Republican. It had not even occurred to me until you mentioned it. But I might be inclined to think the Russians may have had some part in the weapon used to bring down the plane. Please do not infer that this is my call for some sort of military response to this event – I would like to think the US has learned that military intervention anywhere in the world is not the best first choice. And I can assure you I am not the only Republican or Democrat who thinks this way.

So just how much hell did the US pay when the US Navy shot down Iran Air flight IR655 killing 248 Iranians?
The United States agreed to pay Iran US$131.8 million in settlement to discontinue a case brought by Iran in 1989 against the U.S. in the International Court of Justice relating to this incident
US$61.8 million of the claim was in compensation for the 248 Iranians killed in the shoot-down: $300,000 per wage-earning victim and $150,000 per non-wage-earner. In total, 290 civilians on board were killed, 38 being non-Iranians and 66 being children. It was not disclosed how the remaining $70 million of the settlement was apportioned,

Thanks for the reply. I saw your post earlier today.
I guess I don’t have the right mindset for this. I don’t look at political commentators (like Hannity or Rush) or political networks (like MSNBC) as good sources. I have not watched any of those in years. I read a lot. I look at a diversity of sources that strike me as being more news and less flash.
That being said, I also hate politices in general. McCain’s comments are what you would expect – a sad majority of our ‘leadership’ in both parties take any disaster and try to score political points.
Just recalling, but I believe the USS Vincennes was the ship that fired the missiles at the Iranian airliner. The records showed a great deal of ineptness and inattention on the part of the crew. I really didn’t remember the International Court case but the compensation came later – I believe it happened during the Clinton administration but it might have been Bush #1. You are right. I would like to know where the rest of the money went!

You are right Dennis I believe mainstream media is corrupt and I am disgusted with the way corporations run the politicians. Like you I don’t watch political commentators and also read from diverse source and NPR for none political human stories. You are right it was the USS Vincennes and I do believe the crew were awarded medals and citations. I truly appreciate your insight it is a breath of fresh air.
